Education

Education is at the heart of ellenor’s mission to promote and provide hospice care of the highest standards to all those in need. We believe that everyone approaching their journey towards to the end of life has the right to the highest quality care and support.

We rely on a well-trained workforce who share our vision of delivering high quality end of life care to our community. Our commitment is to share our expertise to develop staff and services through teaching. We do this by designing our bespoke training to mirror exactly how we deliver it here at ellenor with an aim to share our vast knowledge and experience. We have a strong record of involvement with training programmes on both clinical subjects and non-clinical subjects aimed at businesses and organisations not directly involved in end of life care.

Collaboration Work

During COVID, we partnered with local facilitators to form the Kent and Medway collaborative. Our partners are Heart of Kent Hospice, Hospice in the Weald, Pilgrims Hospices and Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. The main function of this collaborative was to deliver virtual training for end of life care.

Due to its success, we have continued to receive funding to deliver these sessions for free, and now also include some face-to-face training.

For our 2024/25 programme, we had 1477 people attending these sessions from across Kent and Medway.

Other Work

We developed and delivered a Care Volunteer Programme (care certificate) for both students considering a career in care and volunteers wishing to provide a more hands on approach with our patients.

Placements

We also work closely with local universities and colleges, and support student doctors, nurses and therapists with their placements.
